This thread will be for people to make suggestions or ask questions in regards to the entirety of the project.
For Example: Things like whether or not we should try and do a 4 disc project for example. Or whether some songs should be cut. Or perhaps we should consider advertising through this site or that site.
If you think the project should be a rock opera, or symphonic suite? Things of that nature are to be discussed here. Same for if you have questions regarding the project whatever they may be.

I've been so busy making videos and playing games with a dance pad for everyone that I don't know if I could have a substantial WIP by May 15, but I still really really want to be in this project. What if I can't get a WIP to you by May 15?

If you can have a really nice 15-30 second bit of music that you think is polished enough that is all that I would need.
The teaser trailer video to recruit people is only going to be like a minute. So literally they will hear 10 second snippets of songs.
I don't need substantial, just a polished enough portion to show off and get people excited. Also to get OCR to take this project seriously as well when I approach them about it.

I don't even know if I can crank out that much, considering I'd like to show off a GOOD portion of the song, not work on it for half an hour just to get ten seconds made.
Yeah, I'm saying this with having 0 seconds of music so far. These dance pad videos are really getting in my way, but I'll definitely start working on getting my computer set up to make music, starting Friday.

Well I'm sure you can whip up something really good within 10 days. If you start friday, that gives you an entire week to work with. I've got plenty of stuff to do before launch of the project myself. Yet on the flip side it's really excite to push oneself to get these things done. I think the end result will be awesome

I think my song will be great as well, it'll just be a matter of squeezing it into my schedule. haha, to think, I went into this project with almost nothing planned in my life, and then I beat Castlevania with a dance pad and all goes to heck. ;;

2 Discs max.
I don't want an overload of songs.

It's not like we will be required to cover a dozen tracks each. There is a fair bit of music for both games so I think 4 discs is more than reasonable, there are four elemental stars so I think that is fair. It depends on how many remixers we attract to the project, if we only get a handfull then only 2 discs, representing both books. I assume there will be all the bonus content too? Alternative versions and instrumentals of vocal tracks(if any) etc.
If we only get about 12 different recruits it won't be such a big project, everyone would be contributing about 1-3 tracks each, don't forget the collaborations, but chances are it may pick up more interest once the project is officially announced.

There's also the fact that even if we can cut the songs down to 15 songs per disc, and each song is in some way represented, whether through a medley, or lengthy song.
Then we can cover most of both games, if not the best songs from both games.
I'd say we should focus on the first game to begin with. If we can complete one game and work from that point it would be great. Mind you I haven't put full effort into recruitment yet. We don't know how many people will be involved in a month, or even 2 months from now. I haven't even advertised the project on OCR or anywhere else other then the Shizz. If we had say 10 more people what a difference that would make already.
It will also make a huge difference as people get more free time in the summer, and as they finish up other projects.
At this point I'm still setting the goal to have 4 discs and cover both games. I'm not going to do a single disc for each game... it's like telling Peter Jackson you have to tell the story of Lord of the Rings in 2 movies. It just wouldn't happen. you'd never do it justice.
To me Golden Sun is the Lord of the Rings of the video game world... or at least of the GBA game world. I hope that people feel the same that we can at least do each game justice.
Again if people want please feel free to help cut songs back, by coming up with some good song medley's where we can ask musicians to combine to songs. Mind you I also don't want to force this upon musicians. It's a tough balance.

Additionally I should add, that people shouldn't feel obligated to do more songs if they don't want to. If you do a song and contribute that and then move on to other projects that is perfectly fine for me.
Contribute what you feel you can. When the time comes and the project is released your credit and work will still be there as part of the project. Perhaps the crew here now, may not be here after they've done the songs they wanted to do and a new groups of people will come to finish off the project.

I will stay with this project until completion, definitely will be contributing a small handfull of tracks. Two is great, but completing more would be just superb.

I agree that 4 discs might be a bit too lofty... but in any event within the next several months it will become clear how [un]attainable that may be.
Regardless, though, I'm glad there's a vision to work on.

I do agree with all the sentiments that 4 discs may be a lofty goal.
In fact when I started the project I knew there was a distinct possibility that I may need to half the project. In which case it would be simple... we'd do the first Golden Sun game and complete that first.
The sad thing is the fact that people have shown enthusiasm for doing songs in the second game. Truth be told though until I actually launch the project officially I have decided to wait and see how many people are interested in joining. Cause the amount of man power involved obviously affects how much can be done.
At this point the people involved are really only those I made an effort in contacting. A few of those are from the shizz of course as well when I made that post, which was really just to find people who like Golden Sun. Come this saturday I will post the official tracklist on OCR, the Shizz, and post the video ad I'm making as well.
The ad banners for signatures will be completed as well for people to show off and hopefully that will grab us a few more people as well.
I we can get at least 10-20 more people on board then I think it gives this project more legs.

I think that given the length of the remixes that most of us are working on, 15 songs per disc amounting to 4 discs is an appropriate goal if we hope to do this series justice.
Considering we're bringing the track list to 60 songs max, some of us will probably be making some pretty large medleys. That will bring the average track running time quite a bit higher, which makes 15 songs per disc even more reasonable to shoot for.
Not to mention the four Elemental Stars being the disc art. I think it's perfect. Maybe that's just me, though.

Yeah that's my hope... I feel like cutting the project in half would only mean the second would have to be done eventually, either by us or someone else. Which may break up the whole atmosphere of the project.
As long as most every track from both games are covered in some way shape or form in this sort of rock ballad retelling of the great journey to unleash alchemy then I think that would be an accomplishment. There are something like 90 tracks in the game, but some are relatively repetitive, and even more so others are nothing more then variations of already pre-existing tracks. For example Drums of Daila, Kandorean Temple and Kandorean Labrynth are three songs which are all very similar. I've been going through the tracklist to see what songs may blend well together. It will also allow for a lot of variety in the songs themselves giving people a good reason to repeatedly listen.
Tomorrow I should have a listing up for everything as a proposed 60 song Official Tracklist with mandatory medley's. Basically put if someone wants to go for a specific song then they may have to work in other songs as I've kind of plotted out. Giving people such guidelines may also enforce some creativity, and restrictions can sometimes be good for giving people direction.
At this point in time I've almost completed my playthrough of the Lost Age and I'll be able to add it to tracklist.
